Contraindicated in nephrosis or the nephrotic phase of nephritis, cardiac and renal failure, hypercalcemia, edema, jaundice, liver disease with impaired bilirubin excretion, testicular and hepatic carcinoma.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:

Virilization may manifest in sensitive women as hoarseness, acne, hirsutism, and increased libido. Prepubertal boys may experience an increased frequency of erections and phallic enlargement, while girls may notice an increase in pubic hair and clitoral hypertrophy. Hoarseness can be an initial symptom of vocal changes that may lead to a lasting, sometimes irreversible deepening of the voice.

OVERDOSAGE:

Signs and symptoms of overdosage align with the known effects of the drug (refer to the adverse reactions section). Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Evacuation of stomach contents through emesis and, if necessary, lavage is recommended, with precautions to prevent aspiration. Regular monitoring of liver function is advised.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Oxandrolone should be taken orally per day in divided doses. The adult dose is 5-10 mg every day.
